THE CAMERA IS WATCHING

Several technology companies are testing on-board systems that monitor driver fatigue.  One, SEEING MACHINES, uses a camera that is focused on the driver to check eyelid closure, pupil dilation, and head position.  If the data suggests the driver is drowsy, a vibrator in the seat wakes him up.  At the time the vibrator activates, a text message is sent to the fleet administrator with information about the event.  Another company, SAFETY VISION, provides a live look at the driver. A fatigue alert is sent to the fleet administrator and they can view the driver and communicate any concerns to that driver. This systems also keeps a 3 week video loop that can be reviewed.   A third company is SMART CAP.  With this company the driver wears a cap that monitors alertness and sends warnings to the driver when needed.
